Are orgasms different depending if you have a penis or a vulva?

Couple bed orgasm

The physical process of orgasm is very similar to both men and women. When an orgasm occurs rapid muscle contractions are produced around the genital area (sometimes throughout the body) regardless of whether you have a penis or a vulva. These muscle contractions happen at the very same intervals for people of both genders (0-8 seconds). Men usually experience 4-6 orgasmic contractions while women average 6-10.

People with penis usually ejaculate with orgasm but sometimes an orgasm without ejaculation may occur. Only 10% of women ejaculate fluid from the urethra after an intense sexual intercourse or during an orgasm. This fluid comes from the skene’s glands in the wall of the urethra.

Some believe that women find it a lot harder to reach an orgasm than men. This is not 100% true. Especially during masturbation, both genders seem to reach an orgasm in similar amounts of time (around 4-5 minutes). During a sexual intercourse the time to reach an orgasm increases in people with vulvas (around 10-20 minutes).
